 The Grand Final!

Results for the Grand Final Round 4 of ISTS AFL Footy Pools for the year 2025!

92 Punters, 9 finals matches, who will be the top 5 punters of the Finals for 2025?

Welcome to the Grand Final round of the ISTS AFL Pools Finals competition for 2025.  Well - this was all tied up at half time after a full on pressure with scores locked together at half time!  But after the break the Lions ripped the game apart and kicked away doubling the Cats score at times but when it was clear the Liosn would win in the final term, they started to relax and enjoy the moment.  It ended up being a blowout by 47 points but  who knew!

This year, we had just 5 tipsters still in the Grand Final and Les Shalhoub picked a margin with the high ground so came first!

The Grand Final was won by the Lions over the Cats by 47 points.

So which of these five punters got the best chocolates?

Congratulations to Les Shalhoub for 1st prize of $184 with the closest margin of 31 points for the Lions.  He covered the high ground which he did very well!.   2nd Prize of $92 went the Alice Betteridge who tipped the Lions by 23 points.  Jason Allsopp tipped Brisbane without a margin but gets 3rd Prize of $47.84, while Tracey Goode tipped Geelong to get $25.76.   The 5th place consolation prize of $18.40 went to Len Colgan for tipping the Cats.

This year we had 92 punters in the finals and the 1st to 5th prizes are

    Prize  Punter Minor Round Finish
1st 50%  $      184.00 Les Shalhoub 2
2nd 25%  $        92.00 Alice Betteridge 16
3rd 13%  $        47.84 Jason Allsopp 18
4th 7%  $        25.76 Tracey Goode 50
5th 5%  $        18.40 Len Colgan 52
Totals: 1  $      368.00

So thanks for having some fun with us this year. Messages will come out shortly for those of you with large amounts to collect. I prefer to pay these using bank transfers.

If you would like to donate your smaller winnings, it will be the Australian Lions Childrens Cancer Research Foundation next year.  This was my wife's special project when she was a District Governor in Lions for 2009-2010.

I'd like to thank Pete Kiley for caring for and feeding the web site.

I hope all of you sign up again for next year's ISTS Footy Tipping competition. If you know of anyone who would enjoy being part of the competition next year, please get them to email, me at rocky.stone.15@outlook.com .

Until 2026,

Rocky reporting for ISTS AFL Footy Pools - Finals Edition

(ps - in the table below - the web site does not calculate the prize money for 1st to 5th so please use the commentary above as the prize payout information for the finals)

Results for Preliminary Finals Round 3 of ISTS AFL Footy Pools for the year 2025!

92 Punters, 9 finals matches, who will be the top 5 punters of the Finals for 2025?

And then there were 2 teams left in the Quest for the Holy Grail!

Friday saw the Cats quell the Hawks who started well but couldn't sustain it.  Just 12 of us picked that.

Saturday was an epic clash bewteen the Pies and Lions and while Collingwood looked the goods at times, check out the worm to see how much time they spent in front!   Not much.  So the Lions deid a number on them and face off again with teh Cats who beat them at the MCG in the qualifying final.  This matched was tipped 50/50 but it just left 5 punters tipping for the Grand Final.

So the 5 winners for the Finals tipping are known, just not the order of who will win the top prize money!  We will all look together once they have tipped for the GF with margins next week!

Next week the Geelong take on the Lions at the MCG in the the BIG DANCE!   The 2025 Grand Final.

Congratualtions to Tracey Goode, Jason Allsopp, Len Colgan, Les Shalhoub and Alice Betteridge for making the Grand Final tipping!

Last year we were all back in the Grand FInal.  This year just 5!

Just a reminder that all finals participants will get a copy of the results each week.  But only those of you who are left in (with all correct tips) will have the ability to enter tips for the following week.  If you get reminded to tip - just do it!

92 Punters, 9 finals matches, who will be the top 5 punters of the Finals for 2025?

And then there were 4 teams left in the Quest for the Holy Grail!

Friday night and the Hawkers came to play and were out of the blocks early.   Crows recovered to level the scores towards the end of the quarter but Hawthorn took control from there with the only 3 goals added before half time.   From there Hawthorn kept control and Adelaide could not shift the momentum.  Crows out in straight sets as minor premiers which has not happened since 1983.  Only 23% of us (basically 23 punters) predicted this!.

The Suns got a head start with the first 2 goals but only managed 4 more for the match as the Lions dominated to extend their lead each term for a big win to get them into the Prelim after losing to the Cats in the first week. At least the Suns won a final in their first campaign and the Lions did not go out in straight set like the Crows!   So just 15 of us left in the finals after the Semis.

Congratulations to Gary Wood, Anthony Beck, Chris Cox, Tracey Goode, Jason Allsopp, Ed Jacobs, Len Colgan, Kirsty Rogerson, Les Shalhoub, Vaneet Dhiman, Michelle Ah Matt, Jenny Butler, Anne Petrie, Stephen (yeah baby) Stone and Alice Betteridge.

Next week the Cats will host the Hawkers at the MCG Friday night at 7:10pm and the Pies will host the Lions at the MCG on Saturday in a twilight match ay 4:45pm.

Results for Qualifying & Elimination Finals Round 1 of ISTS AFL Footy Pools for the year 2025!

92 Punters, 9 finals matches, who will be the top 5 punters of the Finals for 2025?

And then there were 6 teams left in the Quest for the Holy Grail!

Thursday night saw the Pies exact revenge onthe Crows for their round 23 loss with a hard fought first half but Collingwood got loose in the third term to set up a match winning lead, eventually winning by 24 points.  It was an upset as only 17 of is picked it so 75 of us were out after that match alone!

The Cats stitched up the Lions at the MCG to go straight to a home Prelim final after having a break next week.  This was a 50/50 match so just 7 punters left on Friday night!

In the first Elimination Final at ENGIE Stadium, the Giants got done by the Hawkers and that left just 3 punters with all matches correct!

It was a Roller Coaster in the West which saw the Suns get a decent lead at half time but the Dockers making a big charge int he final term to hit the lead by a goal at the 24 minute mark only to have the Suns reply 4 minutes later and then manage that winning behind with almost no time left on the clock.   Gold Coast won their first final in their first ever finals match!   But the final 3 punters did not pick the Suns and so we are all out in the first Round of Finals which means....

WE ARE ALL BACK IN TIPPING FOR THE SEMI-FINALS NEXT WEEK!

Next week the Crows will host the Hawkers at Adelaide Oval on Friday night and the Lions will host the Suns at the Gabba on Saturday night .

Last year we had just 9 punters left after the first week.   This year none of us got all 4 tips correct so we were all out and therefore back in for next week.  Interesting to note that 17 of us picked all 4 losing teams to win!  So if they had flipped their tips, they would have been the only ones tipping next week!

Just a reminder that this one is a knock out competition such that if you get a tip wrong you are knocked out, unless of course everyone gets one wrong in which case we are all back in for the following week.

For accounting purposes, this year we have 92 punters in the finals and the 1st to 5th prizes will be:

Finals Share  Prize
1st 50%  $  184.00
2nd 25%  $    91.00
3rd 13%  $    47.84
4th 7%  $    25.76
5th 5%  $    18.40
Totals: 100%  $  368.00

Just a reminder that all finals participants will get a copy of the results each week.  But only those of you who are left in (with all correct tips) will have the ability to enter tips for the following week.  If you get reminded to tip - just do it!

ISTS Footy Pools Final Round and End of Year 2024 Results

On a sombre note, I would like to make a big shout out to Robert Smith in our competition who had a reasonably serious stroke on August 4th.  I ended up calling an ambulance for him (remotely) and my partner and I went to RAH.  He had a procedure with the wire up the groin to the brain to break up the clot.  First 48 hours were kind of Ok but he got an infection and was *really* crook for a week.   He is a fighter.  He moved to the QEH Rehab facility in the new building there.  He has shaken off the infection and has made amazing progress in the last week. I helped Robert make sure his tips were in.  He stills knows more about footy teams and players than I ever will.  He has turned a big corner and is making the most of his opportunities.  I am glad I have been able to visit him for 3 to 4 hours nearly every day to encourage him.  Our Doctors, Nurses, Allied Health staff and everyone at the QEH are really amazing dealing with 24 rehabilitating patients on that floor. We are truly in a lucky country.  Go Robert!

It was an interesting final round as Collingwood finding a way to get that narrow win over the Demons got them the double chance in the final four.   The Suns lost their chance at a final four position when the Power upset them greatly with a nail biting 4 point win for a fairy tale, and probably unexpected finish to Travis Boak and Ken Hinkley's careers at the club.   The Crows struggled to shake off the Kangaroos which kept bouncing back and Adelaide just got home by 13 points to sew up the minor premiership.  Once the Catters had stitched up the Tigers, Geelong owned 2nd spot on the ladder.

The Giants gave themselves a shot at a top four position by getting over the Saints by just 11 points but it would depending on subsequent results which saw them drop to 5th.  The Bulldogs played the Dockers at Marvel with the winner guaranteed to play final.  Freo were fired up and got home by 15 points to stitch up a finals berth.   When the Lions played the Hawks at home, Brisbane led from half way through the second term but the Hawks wouldn't go away and challenged 4 more times to get within a kick but couldn't manage to take the lead.  Lions by 10 pints and locking in 3rd spot pusjhing the Pies down to 3rd and setting up an Adelaide Crows vs Collingwood Mapgies rematch at Adelaide Oval for the first qualifying final.

This left just 1 more game in the record 10 game round and it would decide the bottom 2 contenders for the eight.  We had to wait for Wednesday to give the Suns and Bombers the rest they needed to finish that Round 0 match that was postponed (nearly forever) due to the cyclone off the Gold Coast early in the season.  The Suns won it by enough to overcome Hawthorn's percentage and finish 7th.  This pushed the Dogs out of the finals running and they will have mad Thursday.   They probably started at half time!

Patrick Cripps stormed to his second Brownlow Medal in 2025 with a record-breaking 45 votes, becoming the first Carlton player to win two. The Blues’ skipper was dominant from early in the count, moving into the lead by round six and never relinquishing it. Collingwood star Nick Daicos finished runner-up on 38, also surpassing the previous record of 36 votes, while Zak Butters (29), Caleb Serong (28), Isaac Heeney (28, ineligible) and Tom Green (27) rounded out the top five. Cripps’ incredible consistency saw him poll three votes in nine matches, cementing his status among the game’s elite. The win capped off a stellar season where he averaged nearly 29 disposals and led Carlton into premiership contention.

Top 10: Cripps 45, Daicos 38, Butters 29, Serong 28, Heeney* 28, Green 27, Treloar 26, Gulden 25, Rowell 25, Newcombe 24.

If you have an appertite for the All Australian Team then that will be shown on Thursday night.  But a Squad of 44 have been named and that will be halfed tomorrow night.

But now for the last time in 2025, how did you do in the longest round in history?  10 matches spread over a week.  Let's just all look together!

ISTS Footy Pools 2025 - Round 24 Results for tipsters

This week, you needed to get an UNBELIEVABLE 10 correct for the round. And there were 4 winners this week each earning $17.68.

Congratulations to Joanna Sundstrom, Steven Burnett, Robert Smith and Jason Allsopp.

This week's big movers and shakers begins with Robert Smith up 16, Steven Burnett up 13, Jason Allsopp up 10, Michelle Ah Matt, Joanna Sundstrom and David Jones up 9, Sam Cooper and Kirsty Rogerson up 8, Nick Leidig up 7, Lisa Morgan up 6, Christopher Blake, Jenny Butler, Scott Ainsworth, Trudi Bishop, Emerson Stevens, Justin Faggotter and Selene Stone Ainsworth up 4, Si Michie, Neville Rankine, Brett Heritage, Kate Adriaans, Patricia Coulthard, James Lipsham and Anthony Beck,

This week there were 32 distinct tips, 3 fewer than last week.

The average total score is 141.5 and the average score this round was 7.4.

It is a different story to last year with Adelaide finishing top of the ladder compared to 15th last year.  The whole Rankine Slur thing wasn't handled all that well by the Club or the AFL but he did get sanctioned for it and only has a slim chance of playing again in this year.   Still wondering how the AFL justify their half time Snoop Dogg choice for entertainment given the lyrics he chooses (including the word Rankine stupidly used).

The Power struggled with injuries this year which contributed to falling from 2nd last year to finish 13th this year.  They did manage to upset the Suns in Trav's and Ken's final appearances for the Power.  But the question has to be asked,  even with the injuries they had, where were those performances for the majority of 2025 that let them slide to 13th?  Having said all that, I was glad it was a good send off for Boak and Hinkley.  They both teamed up when Port were struggling at Footy Park and got them nearly to the top of the mountain.  It was a big change from where they were.

The first week of AFL finals looks like this:

First Qualifying Final - Adelaide v Collingwood at AO on Thursday 4th September at 6:50pm.

Second Qualifying Final - Geelong v Brisbane at the MCG on Friday 5th September at 7:10pm.

First Elimination Final - Giants v Hawks on Saturday 6th September afternoon.

Second Elimination Final -  Dockers v Suns at Optus Stadium in the West on Saturday 6th September evening.

More importantly who has won the Footy Pools for 2025.  Let's all look together!

Drum Roll....................................................

Final week - Round 24 of 2025 minor rounds!

Just a reminder that the prize money is as below.

  • First prize:        $303.00
  • Second prize:  $176.75
  • Third prize:       $101.00
  • 33rd Last:            $50.50

Congratulations to our sole winner, Garry Wood from Canada of all places who came to Oz in the laste 1990's to work ona STudent Record System and got to love AFL.   He got out in front by 9 points to be the clear winner.  His top score of  164 (compared to 138 last year) means he gets the entire First Prize of $303.00 added to his $51.14 winnings making a very nice total of $354.14!

Congratulations to Bayden Smith who was a clear solo second place and gets $176.75 added to his total winnings of $14.52 making a total winning haul of $191.27. Bayden got 155 tips correct.

Congratulations to Paul (NS) Sherlock who took out the 3rd place spot on his Pat Malone to win $101.00 and add to his $21.75 winnings during the year for $122.75 for the minor round competition!  My former boss got 154 points.  Retirement has helped his footy tipping immeasurably!

Just missing out on the ladder for a share of the spoils at the end of the year was Nicole King on 153 points.

The final 33rd last place holder is Michelle Ah Matt.  She gets $50.50 for lucky 33rd last added to her $2.53 and gets $55.81.

It has been a huge year on-line!   Congratulations to all our Footy Pools winners!

And now some awards (non-monetary).

  • The Highest Finishing Loser (not winning a brass razoo) Award this year goes to Tracey Goode in 20th place
  • The Wooden Spoon goes to Ryan Bailey on 98 points but I wasn't much better in 3rd last.
  • The Most Average Punter was Christopher Blake with the average of the punters with a score of 141 and an accuracy of 68% which is a lot better than coin tossing!
  • The Median Punter was Bob (Footy Pools Co-founder) Ellis at position 51 in our ladder on 144 points which is better than the average by 2.5 points.
  • Our competition had a potential total of 20,907 tips for all punters.
  • The highest grossing punter who didn't win a major end of year prize was Bernie Hoffmann with a tidy $106.06 in winnings during the season!
  • 28 punters got more than their $25 investment back (4 more than last year!).  Another 60 punters got some money back but not enough to recover their investment. That leaves 13 punters who did all of their dough!
  • The average score for our 109 punters was 141.5 points. 58 punters were above average, 8 punters were average and 35 punters below average. But look on the bright side. Tossing a coin should produce 50% success which would mean 104 correct tips. Only 2 of us were worse than coin tossing!
  • There was an average of 1 voice mail tips left every 4 weeks.

Thanks all for your patronage this year.   I hope you have had some fun and you can collect on those side bets now!

A big thanks my Uni mate Pete Kiley who tweaks the web site and guest stars with the Commentary when I am away voluntering at moto races.

In continuing the memory of my wife, Corinne, this year's donation of at least $126.25 will again be made to a combination of Breast Cancer Research and the Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation.

Last year, this amount was topped up by the generosity of our punters and myself to make $600 to each charity ($1200 in total).

Hope to see you next year when it is time to turn on the tipping again.  We will work out the money distribution after the finals.

For those of you in the finals, hang on for the reminder which will come out when we have reset the web site for Finals tipping.

ISTS Footy Pools for 2025 - Round 23

Now for something different...

Rugby (Wallabies – Rugby Championship):
Australia delivered a stirring performance at Ellis Park, overturning a daunting 22-point deficit to beat South Africa 38-22. It was a historic feat: their first win at that venue since 1963. Key contributors included skipper Harry Wilson (two tries), alongside Dylan Pietsch, Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, Max Jorgensen, and Tom Wright. The Wallabies’ second-half surge, marked by tactical execution and relentless pressure, stunned the hosts and reestablished Australia’s credentials in world rugby.

Cricket (T20 Series Australia vs South Africa):
In a nail-biting final T20I at Cazalys Stadium, Glenn Maxwell starred with a breezy unbeaten 62 off 36 balls, guiding Australia to a last-over win and clinching the series 2-1. It was a dramatic finish, securing a hard-fought series victory with flair and composure under pressure.

Well it was still a mostly predictable round of footy. The biggest upset was the Giants beating the Suns which was only predicted by 11% of us.  The other one was Fremantle getting rolled by the Lions in the West!  Freo could not do their last quarter comeback trick and the Brisbane win was only predicted by 22% .

In this round, the Crows pulled off something they haven't done for 9 years - beat the Magpies. It was a battle of the defenses and Adelaide managed to just keep the Pies at bay.  It was in front of an all time record AFL crowd  at Adelaide Oval of 54,285.

Port were in trouble from the start against Carlton and it underlined a sorry season for the Power as the Blues tore them apart!

So with two upsets this week, did anyone manage to pick both of them and the 604% Carlton win plus the 60%North win over the Tige's? Let's all look together!!

ISTS AFL Pools 2025 - Round 23 Results for Tipsters

Believe it or not, you really had to get all 9 correct for the round. There was just the one lucky winner this week earning $70.70.

Big Congratulations to Anna Parente.

This week's ladder is all but baked in. Untouchable at the top is Gary Wood on 157 points. Almost safe in 2nd spot is Bayden Smith on 148 points. Holding down 3rd spot is Nicole King on 147 points. Hoping for a miracle to make the podium is Paul Sherlock on 146 points. Dreaming of divine intervention is Malcolm Parsons on 145 points. Without a chance are Amy Challans, Andy Duncan, Ian Mills and Vicki Allen on 144 points. Special mentions and commiserations to Ben Stevens, Tristan Bibbo, Justin King, Randall Kiesewetter, Anthony Beck and David Shaw on 143 points. Would be if they could be's are Leonie Challans, Grant Williams, Chris Cox, Sandy Ellis, Bill Verrier and Tracey Goode on 142 points. Next we have Kathy Lange, Brian Quick, Garth Challans and Michael Nettle on 141 points. Of course the rest of us are hopeless!

This week's big movers and shakers begins with Anna Parente up 15, Robert Smith up 12, Bob Ellis up 10, Randall Kiesewetter and Justin King up 7, Pat Sleeman and Helen Douglass up 6, Dale Grigg up 5, Brett Douglas, Dominic Marafioti and Emerson Stevens up 4, Peter Kiley, Melissa Williams, Lisa Morgan, Adam Mather, Martin Stone, Amy Challans, Andy Duncan, Garth Challans and Simon Holt up 3.

The current 33rd last place holder is Vaneet Dhiman who fell 4 places. Last week it was Anthony McAvaney who fell 1 spot.

This week there were 36 distinct tips, 15 more than last week reflecting the greater degree of difficulty this round.

The average total score is 134.1 and the average score this round was 6.1 down 0.6 from last week.

The AFL ladder is only unchanged at the top 2 positions.  Lions are now 3rd, Pies 4th, Hawks 5th, GWS 6th, Dockers 7th and Doggies 8th.

The Crows managed to keep top spot on the ladder after a thrilling low scoring win over the old foe, the Collingwood Magpies.  Adelaide will travel to Melbourne next week to take on the Kangas at Marvel on Saturday at 12:50pm.  North accounted for the Tigers this round and cannot be underestimated.  But the equation is simple - beat North and the Crows will be minor premiers.  If they lose, they are relying on the Cats to beat the Tigers (no chance they would lose to Richmond) by a small enough margin as Geelong are the only team who can knock the Crows off as Minor Premiers.  Geelong are a win and 1% behind the Crows.  But Adelaide cannot finish lower than 2nd place so will egt a home final first up!

The Power fell to13th spot after an ordinary showing against the Blue Baggers at Marvel.     Next week, Port host the Suns at Adelaide Oval on Friday night with a later start of 7:40pm.  It will be Hinkley's farewell match as coach and also Boaks playing farewell.   We should all remember that Hinkley and Boak came together way back when seats were covered at West Lakes because Crowds were so low for Power matches.  These two led the Club to improve their on field performances to get them to 4 Prelim Finals over the years.  While not to the top of the mountain, their legacy should be judged be the improvement that happened over time.

The AFL have brought back Thursday night Footy for the last round, Round 24 due to the complexities of having to fit the extra game for the Suns vs Bombers that was postponed from Round 0 due to the Cyclone.   They will play that Match on the following Wednesday after what would have been then of the original Round 24 on Sunday evening. This is the first time we have had a 10 match round!   So there might be some ladder changes (importantly for the Suns) in that Wednesday final minor round match!  The Suns could reap 8 points if they win both of their matches and shake up the final eight!

ISTS Footy Pools for 2025 - Round 22

The 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore delivered thrilling performances in the pool. Canada’s Summer McIntosh starred with four individual golds, including the 400m medley, while Australia’s Kaylee McKeown dominated the backstroke, winning both the 100m and 200m with a championship record in the latter. Katie Ledecky claimed her seventh straight 800m freestyle world title in a tense duel with McIntosh and Lani Pallister. France’s Léon Marchand broke a long-standing world record in the 200m individual medley before winning gold. The championships also featured record-setting relay swims from the USA and Canada, while Australia maintained its golden run with multiple podium finishes. The event confirmed established champions’ dominance while showcasing rising stars ready to challenge for future global titles.

Well it was still a mostly predictable round of footy.  But the Swans getting up so well over the reigning premiers in a Grand Final rematch at the Gabba was a big shock which was only tipped by 3% of us.  And there were nearly two more upsets care of the SA based teams!  Port did a great job of scaring the bejessers out of Freo after a goalless first term.  The Dockers had to scrape home in the final term.  Same for the Crowies who saw West Caost play our of their skins and only got enough ascendency in the final term to hang on by 9 points.

In this round, Adelaide continued their winning streak with a very hard fought almost upset against the Eagles who were on fire!   Where was that team all year?   The Crows stayed top of the ladder with a game clear but it was in doubt about beating the West Coast for the extra points all match!

Port had a shocking first term but more than made up for it in the second with 8 goals to 1 by the Dockers to take the lead until the final term when Freo fought back to steal the match.  But Aliir Aliir kicked his first ever goal for the Power.  And Hinkley was rightly pleased.

So with just 3 people picking the one upset, how many winners did we have this week? Let's all look together!!

ISTS AFL Pools 2025 - Round 22 Results for Tipsters

This week, Believe it or not, you really had to get all 9 correct for the round. There was just the one lucky winner this week earning $70.70.

Congratulations to Chris Sleeman.  Awesome effort!

This week's ladder is bunching up but only for 2nd and 3rd places. Still perched on top for vistory is Gary Wood on 150 points. Clearly in second and hoping to stay there is Bayden Smith on 141 points. Scrambling for 3rd are Paul Sherlock and Nicole King on 140 points. Two points adrift of the podium are Ben Stevens, Ian Mills and Malcolm Parsons on 138 points. Clearly dreaming are Tristan Bibbo, Amy Challans, Andy Duncan, Vicki Allen and David Shaw on 137 points. Really on drugs are Grant Williams, Chris Cox, Anthony Beck and Sandy Ellis on 136 points. Could-a-beens are Kathy Lange, Leonie Challans, Justin King, Randall Kiesewetter, Bill Verrier, Michael Nettle and Tracey Goode on 135 points. (Yep I am harsh tonight!)

This week's big movers and shakers begins with Chris Sleeman up 10, Callum Shaw, Adam Mather and Jenny Butler up 7, Ken Sleeman, Peter Kiley, Jason Allsopp and Justin King up 6, Scott Gage up 5, Ian Mills, David Shaw, Cliff Sleeman and Vaneet Dhiman up 4, John Boland, John Whittaker, Bill Verrier and Bruce Thomas up 3.

The current 33rd last place holder is Anthony McAvaney who rose 1 places. Last week it was Vaneet Dhiman who rose 4 spots.

This week there were 21 distinct tips, 3 more than last week!

The average total score is 128.0 and the average score this round was 6.7 down 0.9 from last week.

The AFL ladder is static for the top spot and last 3.  The Cats stole 2nd, Pies down to third, Dockers up to 4th and Lions down to 5th.

The Crows managed to stay at the top of the ladder after a serious scare against the Eagles. Next week in the second last round, the Crows host the Pie's in one of Collingwood's rare forays outside of Melbourne!  It is on Saturday night at Adelaide Oval and should be a cracker but the Crowies will need to lift their game from this round's effort!

The Power fell to12th spot after an impressive showing against the much fancied Dockers who had to come from behind to steal the match.   Next week, Port travel to Melbourne to take on the Blues who have had a worse year than Port.  It is a Saturday afternoon match at Marvel.

The AFL have canned Thursday night Footy for Round 23 but there are two on Friday night when the Bombers tackle the Sainters at Marvel and Freo take on the Lions in Perth!

ISTS Footy Pools for 2025 - Round 21

Well it was a mostly predictable round of footy.  Just the one upset with the Lions prevailing over the Pies at the Mecca of Footy (MCG).  Surely this will be a bumper round but you can guess right now there was no tipping margin for error.

Adelaide continued their winning streak with a come from behind win over the Hawks at Adelaide Oval on Friday night inflicting revenge on the Hawks for their win in Tasmania.  The Crows went top of the ladder and thanks to the Lions upsetting the Pies at the MCG, stayed there!  At least for this weekend.

Port tried early but the Cats were too good at home and kicked away for a big win.  At least they have a home match next week having played the last 3 Away (although Showdown is not completely "Away").

So with so many picking the easy ones, how many picked the upset of the Lions beating the Pies at the MCG. Let's all look together!!

ISTS AFL Pools 2025 - Round 21 Results for Tipsters

This week, you really needed to get 9 correct for the round. There were 13 winners this week each earning $5.44.

Congratulations to Denice Daou, Randall Kiesewetter, Amy Challans, Justin King, Steven Burnett, Bob Ellis, Chris Sleeman, Ben (BC1)Stevens, Kate Adriaans, Nick Leidig, Grant (BC2) Williams, Robert Smith and Alan Brideson.

This week's ladder is consolidating. Still lonely on top of the mountain, we have Gary Wood on 142 points. Sitting in second position but can he hold on for 3 more rounds, is Bayden Smith on 134 points. Same, same for this third placed character (clown got self-corrected) is Paul Sherlock on 133 points. Right on his heels is Nicole King on 132 points. Still dreaming of 3rd place are Ben Stevens and Malcolm Parsons on 131 points. Wildly Optimistic are Tristan Bibbo, Amy Challans, Andy Duncan, Ian Mills and Vicki Allen on 130 points. Hysterically desperate are Grant Williams, Chris Cox, Anthony Beck, Sandy Ellis, David Shaw, Michael Nettle and Tracey Goode on 129 points. Under the pump are Kathy Lange, Leonie Challans, Brian Quick, Randall Kiesewetter, Steven Burnett and Bill Verrier on 128 points.

This week's big movers and shakers begins with Grant Williams up 10, Alan Brideson up 9, Amy Challans up 8, Bob Ellis and Sam Cooper up 7, Denice Daou up 6, Justin King and Chris Sleeman up 5, Kate Adriaans and Chris Cox up 4, Ben Stevens, Steven Burnett, Randall Kiesewetter, Nick Leidig, Brian Simpson, Robert Smith, Craig Jones and Martin Stone up 3.  Even 3 is a big move at this time of year!

The current 33rd last place holder is Vaneet Dhiman who fell 6 places. Last week it was Joanna Sundstrom who fell 5 spots.

This week there were 18 distinct tips which is 3 fewer than last week reflecting the predictability.

The average total score is 121.3 and the average score this round was 7.6 up 0.2 on last week.

The AFL ladder is static for the top 8 with the exception of the Crows and Pies swapping places, Suns up to 5th, Hawks down to 6th and Giants down to 8th.

The Crows managed to go to the top of the ladder thanks to the Lions beating the Magpies on Saturday night. Adelaide go West to tackle the woeful Eagles for the last match on Sunday.

The Power still in 11th spot.   They host a home match for the first time in 4 matches against the Dockers on Saturday night.  Freo will have a lot to play for to shore up their finals position but maybe the Power can spoil the heave-ho party!

The AFL still have a Thursday night Footy matches for round 22 and the Hawks will take on the Pies at the MCG to see who can break their losing streak of one!

ISTS Footy Pools for 2025 - Round 20

Well it was a pretty lopside round of results for Round 20 with 7 of the 9 matches predicted by 80% or better of us.  The biggest upset was just 18% of us picking Gold Coast over the Lions.  Looks like the Suns are headed for their first ever finals appearance!  In terms of close matches, the St Kilda comeback from 46 points down at the final change to win by Wanganeen-Milera's 4th goal he kicked after the siren to give the Sainters that 6 point win.

Adelaide continued their very good form in Showdown 58 with a largest ever showdown win of 98 points over cross-town rivals, Port Adelaide.  .It was a thorough belting and not how Ken Hinkley wanted his last Showdown as Power coach to play out.

Port were in it for the first half but started to fall away after half time as the Hawkers swooped on the injury ravaged prey.

So with so many picking the easy ones, how many picked the upset and the 50/50 between Saints and Demons?  Let's all look together!!
